PRODUCTION
Redemption works with a network of high-end producers, predominantly based in Italy. Each one has been chosen for being the best in its respective field, be it ready to wear, embroidery, leather or shoes, in order to create impeccable, unsurpassed products. To create the best products, we seek the highest quality materials and manufacturing techniques, with an ever-growing focus on sustainability.
MATERIALS
We are sensitive to the wellbeing of our planet and the people who inhabit it, and so use and promote certified organic or recycled and regenerated fibres wherever possible to minimise ecological and social harm. Along with our growing selection of more responsible materials, we want to work with suppliers that use energy and resource-efficient processes, and invest in emerging technologies. The below materials are being gradually introduced into our collections:
Bamboo fabric is a type of viscose made from the fibre found in the centre of bamboo stems, a fast-growing renewable plant that doesn’t require harmful chemical pesticides or high amounts of water to grow. The finished fabric is soft, luxurious and breathable, with temperature and humidity regulating properties, and both deodorising and anti-bacterial effects.
We want to increase our use of recycled materials made using existing resources instead of new ones. For this reason our swimwear is made from of Q-Nova® yarn by Fulgar®, a high quality mechanically recycled yarn made from waste materials.
Vegea is a plant-based vegan leather alternative made from the by-products of the wine-making industry such as grape stalks, seeds and skins. This waste is not only natural, biodegradable, and renewable, but as it is an industry by-product no additional resources were used to produce it. The name VEGEA comes from the combination of VEG (Vegan) and GEA (Mother Earth), and the material is solvent free, cruelty free, and Made in Italy.
The organic cotton we have introduced into our denim and jersey ranges is made by suppliers who are certified by The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), which is one of the leading global standards for organic materials. This standard does not allow the use of genetically modified seeds, and focuses on responsible environmental stewardship, also addressing fair labour conditions throughout the supply chain.
Our organic cotton stretch denim from Evlox is dyed using a revolutionary technology that significantly reduces the water consumption during dyeing processes. Evlox additionally uses laser finishing on its fabrics to minimise water use and pollution.
Metalbottoni provides us with the buttons to finish our denim apparel and has developed its No Impact Technology to reduce the environmental impact of its production processes. The technology focuses on streamlining material and resource use and reducing synthetic chemical and energy use. At Metalbottoni, 45% percent of its energy requirements are powered by photovoltaic (solar) energy, a renewable source that does not rely on polluting oil-based energy.
Some of our wool comes from the Prato region in Italy, renowned for its wool recycling industry. This regenerated wool is created by mechanically, not chemically, processing old garments and materials. Using regenerated materials saves water and CO2, and contributes to a circular economy.
