In line with our Re|set the Future strategy, we are committed to harnessing the power of business in order to drive positive change in the fashion industry.
Over 150 million trees are logged every year to produce cellulosic fabrics used by the fashion industry - such as rayon, viscose, lyocell and modal – and this contributes to the loss of valuable habitats and species. We know that we need to protect our forests to allow them to support us in our fight against the climate change.
At Redemption, we use forest-based fibres in our collections and our packaging, and we want to ensure that the materials we source are forest-friendly. As a result, we have decided to partner with Canopy Style to work towards eliminating the sourcing of forest-based fibers from Ancient and Endangered forests. We have also joined Canopy’s Pack4Good initiative, and will commit to sourcing paper and packaging from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified sources, a label that guarantees that fibers sourced are not linked to the destruction of habitats and species loss or derived from Ancient and Endangered forests.
We also commit to working with the industry and our suppliers to support collaborative and visionary solutions that will protect the world’s remaining ancient forests and the development of closed loop, next generation solutions for fabrics and packaging.
